Banff Sunshine Village Is Officially Open For Summer Skiing & Snowboarding

Summer skiing starts at Banff Sunshine Village.

With the summer solstice passing this weekend, it’s impossible to argue that summer hasn’t begun. However that doesn’t mean skiing and snowboarding is completely over. Several ski areas continue to offer some version of on-snow recreation, including Banff Sunshine Village in Alberta which just reopened for 16 days of summer laps this past Saturday.

Banff Sunshine’s summer skiing runs until July 5th, with both Strawberry Express and Standish Express chairlifts staying open for the entire summer stretch (as conditions allow). As of last update, 7 trails are open including 3 terrain parks. Not bad for June/July!

Both Sunshine Mountain Lodge and the Chimney Corner restaurant are now open for dining, though the ski school, rentals, and day care are closed throughout the coming weeks. Those who hope to get out on the snow but lack the right equipment can check out Sunshine Village’s list of nearby open retailers here.

Those with a a 2026/27 Sunshine Season Pass, SkiBig3 Season Pass, Rocky Mountain Passport, or any guests staying at Banff’s only ski in, ski out hotel, Sunshine Mountain Lodge, ski for free. 2026/27 midweek pass holders can access the mountain from Monday to Thursday, and those with a 2025/26 Sunshine Season Pass, SkiBig3 pass, or Rocky Mountain Passport will receive a 50% discount on tickets.

Additionally, 2025/26 and 2026/27 Ikon Pass and Mountain Collective pass holders can take advantage of 50% off discounts. Tickets are available for $80 for adults, $50 for youth and seniors, and $30 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and under can ski for free.
