The Salomon QST X is A Combo Between a Swiss Army Knife and a Meat Cleaver

With innovative ski construction and an outside-the-box approach to design, Salomon continues to make skis that quickly gain a cult following, and the 2027 QST X is no exception. A true powder ski at 116mm underfoot, but light enough to slap a touring binding on and bring on big-mountain powder-hunting missions, the QST X is as versatile as it is purpose-built. The QST X uses a similar construction to both the QST Blank and QST 106 Echo, with cork inserts in the tips and tails, a karuba/poplar wood core, flax fibers, and carbon stringers to dampen and stiffen the ski. While it might lack some of the burliness of the QST Blank and not be quite as lightweight as the QST 106 Echo, there’s no doubt the QST X is the right ski for the job when it comes to subalpine pillows, skiing pow in the trees, or foot-powered missions on deep, stable days.
