Big Names Make a Comeback in 2027 Freeride World Tour Roster

As skiers everywhere begin to think about their favorite sport again, the Freeride World Tour is announcing its roster for the 2027 season.

The list includes stalwarts, champions, and more than a few rookies who could shake up the competitive dynamics on Tour.

Who To Watch

Lou Barin, the reigning overall champion, proved again that an Olympic freestyle background can be a valuable asset for freeriders, peppering her runs with tidy 360s. Her rise follows the success of two former freestylers on Tour: Justine Dufour-Lapointe and Hedvig Wessel (Wessel and Dufour-Lapointe competed in moguls while Barin competed in slopestyle).

All that to say—there’s no reason Barin won’t be one of the leading names come next season. She will, though, have some stiff competition. Dufour-Lapointe already has two overall titles and a winning combination of freestyle and technical chops. She claimed third overall last winter, with Sybille Blanjean taking second.

Then, there’s Astrid Cheylus, one of two season wildcards. Her previous season was cut short after back-to-back bobbles, but she’ll be another podium threat. A young talent part of the next generation reinventing freeride, Cheylus made a statement during her first year on the Tour in 2024, and it now only feels like a matter of time before she finds herself on the top step.

Who To Watch

The men’s roster this season feels a bit like the Marvel Cinematic Universe (the Freeride Cinematic Universe?) with too many returning and current stars to name. Max Palm, the first skier to ever land a double backflip on Tour, is back. After working his way through the Challenger circuit, so is Maxime Chabloz, who won the whole thing in 2022.

Previously qualified from last season are two more former champions, Max Hitzig and Marcus Goguen. Ben Richards was the best of the bunch in 2025 after going on an unbelievable hot streak, winning four out of five freeride competitions. Usurping him—or trying to, at least—will be the challenge of the season.

As always, the newcomers will inject more drama. Each can bring the heat, but the one to pay closest attention to may be the 20-year-old Frenchman Noah Peizerat, who’s got effortless style and mind-blowing moves.
