New Map Shows When To Expect The First Snowfall of the Season In Your Hometown

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I checked the temperature at 6:00 a.m. last Wednesday in Truckee, California. 39 degrees and a wind chill that felt like 31. It kinda felt like winter!

The Tahoe area hasn’t experienced its first snowfall of the season quite yet, but ski resorts and mountains in Colorado, Utah, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, British Columbia, and Alberta have, and according to The Farmers’ Almanac’s new map, more regions should expect their first snowfall in the coming weeks.

Take a look at the full map below, and keep reading for when your hometown should experience its first snowfall of the season. Note, however, that this map shows when snow typically first falls. Nothing is a guarantee when it comes to Mother Nature!

Disclaimer: This map does not account for elevation. The peaks of the Sierra, for example, typically record their first snowfall in October or early November, not in late November/December as the map depicts.

• Tetons, Wyoming
• “Highest elevations and far northern mountain areas.”

• Northern Rockies
• Northern Plains

• Central Rockies (Colorado, Utah)
