Celebrity Ski Guest To Attend Denver Summit FC Game

An upcoming soccer game for the Denver Summit FC will have a celebrity guest—one who knows her way around a pair of skis and recently came home with an Olympic gold medal.

We’re talking about Mikaela Shiffrin, of course, the most decorated ski racer of all time.

According to a post from Summit FC, Shiffrin is attending Saturday’s match against the Utah Royals. Her appearance includes a coin toss, an on-field interview, and a medal celebration.

Shiffrin has a personal connection to the Summit, which began competing in the National Women’s Soccer League this year.

In 2025, news broke that she’d become an investor in the team.

Shiffrin said at the time, “I’m beyond thrilled to join the ownership group of Denver NWSL and support something so meaningful in the community I call home. The sport culture in Colorado is rich and deep, and—most notably—the growth of women’s sports is one of the most exciting movements in our culture today.

“To be part of it, and to help bring professional women’s soccer to Colorado, is not only an incredible investment opportunity—but it is both an honor and a joy. Shout out to the city of Denver—I’m so excited to support the home team!”

Another big name, Peyton Manning, is also a co-owner in the Summit group led by Rob Cohen. 

It isn’t the first time a ski racer took interest in soccer. Lindsey Vonn previously invested in the Utah Royals FC and the Angel City FC, two other NWSL clubs.

The upcoming matchup could be a tough one for Summit FC. The team’s ranked 11th overall while the Royals are ranked third. But with Shiffrin in their corner and it being a home game, the odds could be in their favor for an upset.

Shiffrin’s latest Olympic win could bring some good luck, too. At this past winter’s Olympic Games in Italy, she claimed her first Olympic gold medal since 2018 after cruising to the top of the heap in slalom. 

The big show kicks off at Centennial Stadium at 2 p.m.
