The Summer X Games League Officially Kicks Off This Month

Big news for fans of actions sports, as the inaugural season of the MoonPay X Games League is set to kick off in just a few weeks. The first weekend of competitions will go down in Sacramento, California, between Friday, June 26th, and Sunday, June 28th, with skateboarding, BMX, and motocross all being featured.
40 top action sports athletes have been drafted into 4 teams, or clubs, and over 100 free agents remain available to fill empty space. Clubs are regionally repped and globally stacked, with athletes drafted from all around the world. Those drafted are assigned for 2 or 3 years, and each Club drafted their athlete roster snake-style. The 4 inaugural teams picked 2 eligible athletes per round (1 man, 1 woman) until their 10 athlete roster was full. The Winter X Games League will have 4 teams as well.
Athletes and teams in the competition earn points at every stop, rewarding podium finishers but keeping the most competition possible to ensure underdogs have chances to end up on top. Once each competition is finished, points are rewarded based either on the final placement of the Club athlete if just 1 athlete is in the discipline, or to the highest placed athlete if more than 1 athlete per Club is in the discipline.
Three competition weekends are scheduled for this summer. Sacramento takes place at the end of June. Then, between June 3rd and 4th, athletes will compete in Chiba, Japan. Finally, between June 24th and 26th will be the XGL Championship in New Orleans. At the end of it all, the Club with the highest team points will take home quite a lot of cash.
The XGL events will be streamable through the Roku Channel in the United States or on YouTube for those outside of the United States. Learn more about the league here.
