Need a Lift for Backcountry Skiing? Jackson Hole's Tram Reopens Soon
At the end of each winter, Jackson Hole‘s Aerial Tram, “Big Red,” gets a bit of well-deserved time off after hauling countless skiers to the top of Rendezvous Peak every day.Â
However, come summertime in the Tetons, the Tram resumes its duty of carrying folks up Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for any number of activities, attractions, and views.Â
This year, the Tram will reopen for summer on Saturday, May 16, and resume daily operations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. From the top of the Tram, which sits at 10,450 feet in elevation, you can enjoy Jackson Hole’s famous waffles at Corbet’s Cabin with a 360-degree view of the Teton range and greater Jackson area.Â
From this upcoming weekend until early October, the Tram also provides access to hiking, trail running, and sightseeing throughout the Bridger Teton National Forest and Grand Teton National Park.Â
Tickets to ride the Tram are available for $64 per person on the Jackson Hole website. Guests are allowed to access backcountry ski zones via the Tram through the resort’s gates, but no skiing is permitted within resort boundaries, and no uphill skiing is allowed.Â
Early-season mountain conditions still exist near the summit in May and June, and folks should be prepared for snow, variable conditions, and changing alpine weather.Â

Throughout the month of June, the rest of Jackson Hole’s summer attractions will also open for the season. Bridger Gondola, which provides more access to trails, sightseeing, dining, and the Via Ferrata, is slated to open on June 6.
Kids’ Ranch Camps open shortly after June 10. The Jackson Hole Bike Park and its access lifts (Sweetwater Gondola and Teewinot) open on June 13. Jackson Hole also offers a ropes course, paragliding tours, disc golf, and more throughout the summer season.Â
Corbet’s Cabin and the General Store will both be open for dining on May 16. The Deck, Off-Piste, and Tin Can Cantina all follow on June 6, and Piste Mountain Bistro at the top of Bridger Gondola opens on June 13. Jackson Hole’s Concert on the Commons live music series also returns to the mountain’s base this summer and features a variety of bands for free shows.
