Epic Pass targets Gen Z with 20% discount for 26/27 season

Vail Resorts has launched sales of its 2026/27 Epic Pass with a new price category aimed squarely at younger skiers and snowboarders, cutting Epic Pass and Epic Local Pass prices by 20% for anyone aged 13 to 30.

The move is framed as an attempt to make committing to a season pass feel more achievable for Gen Z travellers, including those booking from the UK for a North American trip next winter, as well as younger riders planning shorter breaks in Europe or further afield. Full details and pass comparisons are on epicpass.com.

What’s changing

Under the new pricing, Vail says 13 to 30-year-olds can buy:

  • Epic Pass from $869
  • Epic Local Pass from $649

Vail Resorts also emphasises that passes are currently on sale “at the lowest price of the year”, a familiar early-buy message in the mega-pass market as prices typically rise through spring and summer.

More friend tickets for early buyers

For skiers who travel in mixed groups, there’s a practical sweetener too. Eligible 2026/27 season-long Epic Pass holders who buy early will receive 10 Epic Friend Tickets, which offer 50% off lift tickets, plus an option to use them for 25% off child lift ticket prices.

A nudge for lift ticket buyers to switch

Vail is also trying to convert this winter’s day-ticket guests into passholders. Anyone who skied or rode one of the company’s North American resorts on a lift ticket during the 2025/26 season may be eligible to save up to $175 on select 2026/27 Epic Pass products, with Vail noting that, combined with the new youth pricing, that could reduce the cost further for younger buyers.

Why it matters for UK skiers

For British travellers weighing up a big North American trip, the Epic Pass still tends to be a maths decision as much as a skiing one. The pass covers heavyweight destinations such as Whistler Blackcomb, Vail, Breckenridge, Park City and Heavenly, alongside a long list of regional resorts, and can quickly make sense if you’re planning a week or two on snow, especially if you can build a second trip around it.

Worth noting: Vail says passes are non-refundable except through Epic Coverage, which is explained here: epicpass.com/info
