Snow+Rock Raises £50,000 For Snow Camp

Specialist Snowsport retailer Snow+Rock, a brand with Cotswold Outdoor Group, is celebrating raising over £50,000 for youth charity Snow Camp over the past 22 months. The funds will help 500 young people from inner-city and disadvantaged communities take part in Snow Camp’s First Tracks programme and experience skiing and snowboarding for the very first time.

The funds have been raised since January last year through donations from Snow+Rock’s customers, who have been invited to round up their purchases at the checkout to support Snow Camp’s important work with young people.

SnowCamp’s programme aims to make snowsports accessible to young people who might otherwise be unable to experience them. Through combining time on the slopes with classroom-based life-skills sessions, Snow Camp’s First Tracks is designed to build confidence, develop essential life skills, and open new opportunities.

Sharing their experience, one Snow Camp graduate commented, “Before joining Snow Camp, I wasn’t in a very good place, and I often found it difficult to step outside my comfort zone. Being part of the programme encouraged me to challenge myself, take on new opportunities, and believe in my own abilities. It has helped me become more confident, more motivated, and given me goals to work towards, including becoming a qualified snowboard instructor.”

Upon completion, participants receive an accredited Snow Life Award. For many, First Tracks marks the start of a longer snowsport journey, with opportunities to progress through Snow Camp’s intermediate and advanced programmes, gain further qualifications, access apprenticeships and explore future careers within the industry.

Jamie Kristow, CEO at Cotswold Outdoor Group said, “We are incredibly proud to have raised over £50,000 for Snow Camp  and we are so grateful to our generous customers for making this possible. Our partnership with Snow Camp is hugely valued at Snow+Rock. Together, we are making a positive impact on the snowsports industry and helping to make snowsports more accessible to the next generation.”
