One of Skiing's Funniest Mockumentaries Now Has a Sequel

An award-winning mockumentary that highlights the experience of being a professional skier and a mom—alongside mining for laughs—now has a sequel.

As its name suggests, the newest adventure, Here Hold My Kid – The Austrian Job, heads overseas with the same cast alongside some new additions.

Jackie Paaso and Elyse Saugstad still star, as do their husbands and fellow pro skiers, Cody Townsend and Reine Barkered. Based on the trailer (which you can watch below), new addition and actress Hersha Verity is playing some kind of fashion industry bigwig who offers Paaso and Saugstad a deal that, probably, is too good to be true.

Here’s the blurb from the movie.

“With more children, more humor, and total exhaustion, the stakes are higher than ever. As they attempt to rebuild their public images under a new sponsorship, these two athletes join forces to survive a world that expects mothers to ‘do it all.’”

We can also confirm that Cody Townsend got into the Austrian spirit and donned Lederhosen. 

Other details of the 15-minute film, which is making the festival rounds and recently garnered a nomination for Best Film at the Winter Park Film Festival, haven’t been shared yet. But it’s clearly in the tradition of its predecessor, Here Hold My Kid. 

In that movie, Paaso and Saugstad, playing exaggerated versions of themselves, find themselves in not-a-competition-but-it’s-actually-a-competition for a sports drink contract (the company’s team had 12 men and only one spot for a woman). Antics and playful critiques of the action sports industry ensue—plus plenty of ripping from Paaso and Saugstad. It all wraps up with a hilarious gut-punch twist that’s worth sticking around for.
