Australia’s Last Open Ski Resort Has Just One Week Left
The Australian ski season is entering its final days, with Perisher Ski Resort preparing to close for the 2026 season on Friday, September 25th. The resort remains the last major ski area open in Australia, giving skiers and snowboarders one final opportunity to get on the snow before winter comes to an end Down Under.
The resort’s final operating date is still described as a predicted last day, meaning conditions and operations could influence the schedule.
Spring Conditions Are Taking Over
Perisher is currently experiencing classic late-season spring conditions. On Friday, September 18th, the resort warned that the snow would soften quickly as temperatures rise.
The best conditions were expected during the morning, making early laps particularly valuable for anyone heading to the mountain.
Five lifts were scheduled to operate, although Perisher noted that wind could lead to changes. Eleven runs were groomed overnight, while terrain parks at Yabby Flat and Front Valley remain available for guests looking to make the most of the final stretch of the season.
One Last Weekend Of Events
The final weekend will also feature the inaugural Splash & Dash Tube Slide Challenge at Front Valley. The event will combine a tube ride with a skim across the water, with participants encouraged to show up in fancy dress.
Prizes will be awarded for categories including fastest times and best dressed, adding a final celebration to Perisher’s 2026 season.
With the September 25 closing date approaching, Australia’s ski season is rapidly running out of time. For anyone still hoping to ski Perisher this year, the coming week is the final chance to get a few more laps in before the lifts stop.
