Man Dies Following Bear Attack in Crystal, New Mexico
A man died after being attacked by a bear in Crystal, New Mexico, according to the Navajo Police Department. The incident was reported to authorities on August 20, with multiple Navajo Nation agencies responding to the scene.
Bear Attack Reported in Crystal
The Navajo Police Department Window Rock District received a report at approximately 1pm on August 20th that an adult male had been attacked by a bear in Crystal. Officers from the Window Rock District responded alongside personnel from the Navajo Nation Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations.
According to the police department, law enforcement encountered the bear and shot it, wounding the animal. The bear then fled into nearby woods. Authorities continued searching for the animal and eventually located it. The bear was subsequently neutralized.
The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack and ultimately died. The Navajo Police Department offered condolences to the man’s family following the incident.
Officials Urge Public To Avoid Wildlife
