Canadian Ski Resort Giving Away Limited Edition Skis to a Lucky Passholder
Big White Ski Resort is giving passholders a chance to win a piece of the resort’s history. In 2023, the Canadian ski area celebrated its 60th anniversary by creating a limited run of custom Elan Ripstick 96s. Now, those who purchase their 2026-27 season passes by midnight on August 18 will be entered to win a pair of the skis. Those who have already purchased their passes have been automatically entered into the giveaway as well.
When it opened in 1963, Big White was the highest ski area in Canada, with an elevation of 7,606 feet above sea level. The 60th Anniversary skis were created with a custom topsheet that pays homage to the mountain’s founders, Cliff Serwa and Doug Mervyn, their vision for the mountain, and the community at Big White. Only 60 pairs of the skis were made, making the chance to win them that much more tantalizing.
2026-27 Big White Season Passes are currently on sale for $1,099 for adults, $579 for youth (ages 13-18), and $419 for children (ages 6-12). Prices increase on October 19 and November 25. Passes purchased now also include two 50%-off buddy tickets, two 40%-off group lesson vouchers, and discounts of up to 30% off on mountain accommodations. Big White is currently scheduled to open for the 2026-27 season on November 26, 2026, conditions dependent.
Big White isn’t the first ski area to create a custom, anniversary ski. Last winter, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort celebrated its 60th Anniversary with a custom Faction Dancer 3 with topsheet art of the famous Aerial Tram. West Mountain Ski Co also made a limited edition anniversary ski for Sugarloaf’s 75th Anniversary, which the Maine ski area celebrated last winter. In 2022, Val Thorens commissioned Salomon to create a custom run of the Stance 84 ski to celebrate the ski area’s 50th Anniversary.
