Some PlanetSKI readers may be wondering which mountain our editor, James Cove, was up watching the once-in-a-generation celestial spectacle.
He wasn’t up a mountain.
He was up a hill.
A small hill in Richmond Park in SW London.

“I wasn’t the only one who had turned to a kitchen draw for the advised correct viewing equipment, and none of us could use it to good effect,” said James.
“There were dozens of us with our kitchen colanders and bits of white paper.
“But we did have a good laugh trying and we all thought the advice was utter bolloc*s whichever way round you held it!”

“All in all though it was a great experience and the swift reduction in light was somewhat odd.”
