Hiker Dies Following Medical Emergency On New Hampshire Trail
Tragic news out of New Hampshire where a hiker dies Wednesday evening after suffering a medical emergency on a trail in Bethlehem.
According to New Hampshire Fish and Game, officials were notified at approximately 7:15pm on August 12th that a male hiker had collapsed on the Mt. Hale Brook Trail. Initial information indicated that the hiker was already unresponsive and lifesaving efforts were already underway.
Conservation officers and volunteers from the Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team quickly launched a rescue response, with rescuers traveling approximately one mile up the trail to reach the hiker. Rescue Teams Carry Hiker From Trail
Following the death, members of the Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team and New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers carried the hiker back to the trailhead. They were off the trail by 10:30pm, more than 3 hours after the initial emergency call.
The ciscumstances surrounding the medical emergency have not been detailed by officials. The hiker’s identity remains withheld while authorities work to properly notify his family.
Mt. Hale Brook Trail
The Mt. Hale Brook Trail provides access to Mt. Hale in the White Mountain region. The trail runs about 4.4 miles out and back and is considered a hard hike.
New Hampshire Fish and Game has not released additional information about the hiker’s age, hometown, or the nature of the medical emergency. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death remains ongoing, with officials expected to provide additional information after family notification is complete.
