Pennsylvania Ski Resort To Sell Historic, Decades-Old Lift Chairs
A gaggle of lift chairs will soon be up for sale at a popular Pennsylvania ski resort.
Camelback, located in the Poconos, announced that the Cleopatra, Sunbowl I & II, and Marc Anthony lifts, which were all previously retired, could become part of your home decor.
The resort shared a form for interested buyers so that they can join the waitlist.
All the lifts served Camelback for decades.
The Cleopatra, a Riblet triple that began operating in 1964, climbed from Camelback’s base to its Summit before being decommissioned in 2025.
Marc Anthony also retired in 2025. Before that, it offered summit access alongside Cleopatra (yes, the lift’s names are a clear nod to classic history).
Meanwhile, the Sunbowl I and II lifts were parallel, serving a stretch of beginner terrain. An alternative, the Sunbowl lift, replaced them in 2020.
“The chairs where laughs were shared, friendships were born, and lifelong memories were made, will soon be passed on to the most passionate of Camelback skiers and riders,” a blurb from Camelback’s website reads.
The lift auction follows a historic ski season for Camelback.

The resort, like others in the state, isn’t known for its prolonged seasons. Pennsylvania ski areas don’ts have the same advantages of western mountains like frigid temperatures and higher altitudes. But under the direction of a new general manager, Jason Bays, Camelback pushed to stay open until May, and succeeded, blowing snow as late as April.
As for lift infrastructure, the resort’s latest addition is the Black Bear 6, a high-speed Doppelmayr that deposits skiers at the top of the mountain. It was installed in 2022, according to Lift Blog.
Despite the upcoming lift sale and recent retirements, Camelback noted in an Instagram reply that it had “Nothing to share at this time” about any new additions.
