North Carolina Ski Resort Debuting Mountain Bike Park This Weekend
North Carolina — It’s been a transformative few years for Hatley Pointe.
Formerly known as Wolf Ridge, the Hatley family took over the ski resort in 2023 and basically did a gut job on the entire mountain. The result has been many changes, basically making it a brand new ski resort. Some of these changes include lift refurbishments, a brand-new base lodge, extensive snowmaking additions, adding a rope tow to their terrain park, and new terrain.
The improvements have continued into this summer, as they’re planning to debut their signature summer attraction.
Mountain Biking
Tomorrow, the Hatley Pointe Bike Park will have its grand opening. Created by Elevated Trail Design, the twelve-trail network is a mix of flow and technical, giving options for various ability levels.
Lift tickets will cost $48 for adults and $38 for kids. The bike park will operate Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Scenic chairlift rides will also be offered on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A key thing to note: if you want to buy a ticket, you have to reserve ahead of time.
Offseason Improvements
Meanwhile, upgrades are underway to prepare for the 2026-27 snowsports season. These improvements include adding a covered conveyor lift near the base area, building a new mountain operations facility, installing snowmaking on two black diamonds, rebuilding their second pumphouse, expanding and widening ski terrain, and preparing sites for future snowgun installation.
Future Developments
The changes will continue into 2027 and beyond. The first big project is replacing the Quad Lift. In its place will be a new detachable high-speed six-pack chairlift. Like its predecessor, it will have a mid-station. Deb Hatley told the Exploration Local podcast that the plan is to install it in 2027, then relocate the existing quad to continue serving the mountain, adding redundancy to the slopes.
Real estate developments are also planned. Earlier this summer, Hatley Pointe revealed its first ski-in/out developments under its ownership. Broadway and Powder Hill will be located near the base area, providing easy access to the slopes. The lots are planned to be put on the market in Spring 2027.
Ultimately, this North Carolina ski resort has gone from a rundown mountain to a memorable destination in just a few years. In the years ahead, it’s bound to be a leader in the Southeastern ski industry when it comes to development and innovation.
