Eagle Point Releases Sobering Statement After Flood Destroys Access Road

The hits keep coming for Eagle Point Resort, Utah.

Just weeks after the massive Cottonwood Fire ripped through the mountains outside of Beaver, Utah, scorching much of Eagle Point’s terrain and infrastructure, heavy rains caused widespread flash flood damage.

Eagle Point’s access road, SR-153, was hit hard as rain fell on the Cottonwood Fire burn scar and raced down the slope. Photos from the Utah Department of Transportation show the road cracking, collapsing, and entire sections washed away by the flood.

It’s the worst-case scenario following a devastating wildfire, but Eagle Point isn’t throwing in the towel on rebuilding. The resort released a sobering, but hopeful statement about the damage to SR-153 on Wednesday, July 22, 2026:

“Many of you may have seen news coverage of the devastating flooding that has impacted Beaver County in the aftermath of the Cottonwood Fire. As we continue to learn, the effects of a wildfire don’t end when the flames are extinguished.

“One of the many impacts of the recent flooding has been damage to State Route 153, the primary access road to Eagle Point Resort. As a result, access to the resort through Beaver Canyon is currently closed indefinitely.

“We are working closely with UDOT, Beaver County, and other agency partners to assess conditions and identify a path toward reopening the roadway. Restoring safe access is a critical step in supporting homeowners, damage assessments, cleanup efforts, and the broader recovery process.

“We know this is difficult news for many families and community members impacted by both the fire and subsequent flooding, and we appreciate your patience and support as recovery continues.

“We’ll share additional updates as more information becomes available.”

Eagle Point owner Shane Gadbaw has launched a non-profit called BeaverTUF to support the redevelopment of the resort and other infrastructure damaged by the Cottonwood Fire.
