What's Summer Skiing at Sunshine Village Like? Pretty Nice, Apparently
Stop me if you’ve heard this before: “Winter 25/26 was the worst ever.”
Skiers have a knack for the dramatics, but the lack of snow out West was the biggest story (and bummer) of the winter. Meanwhile, as POWDER’s Ian Greenwood found out, Banff Sunshine Village in Alberta, Canada, was experiencing one of its best seasons ever.
To date, Sunshine Village’s Upper Mountain has recorded 1049cm (412 inches) of snow, rivaling the deepest seasons in its recorded history.
After closing for the Winter/Spring season on May 18, 2026, the resort reopened on Saturday, June 20, and will remain open through July 5, 2026, for an unofficial Summer season.
The POWDER team couldn’t make it, but our friends at the marketing department helped by sending a selection of photos and videos.
They’re sure to increase the likelihood of FOMO, fair warning. See below.
