Giovanni Franzoni Honored with Hahnenkamm Gondola After Historic Kitzbühel Win

Congratulations to Italian speed skier Giovanni Franzoni who returned to Kitzbühel, Austria on June 20th to receive a special honor to commemorate his victory on the legendary Streif last January. The 25-year-old was presented with his own Hahnenkamm gondola, joining an exclusive group of athletes whose achievements have been permanently celebrated at one of alpine skiing’s most iconic venues.

Although Franzoni has competed only four times on the Hahnenkamm, his dominant downhill victory on January, 24th, 2026 has already secured him a special place in Kitzbühel history. Franzoni became just the fourth Italian man to win the famous Streif Downhill, following in the footsteps of Kristian Ghedina, Peter Fill and Dominik Paris.

Fans gathered throughout the day to congratulate the Italian star as he accepted the his namesake gondola while accompanied by family and friends, including his twin brother Alessandro and his girlfriend Camilla.

“Today is a very special day. It brings back all the emotions and memories of last winter. It was an incredible season. I’m very proud to be here today.
