Arapahoe Basin's Al Henceroth To Be Inducted Into Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame

The Colorado Snowsports Museum and Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2026 inductees on June 11, 2026.

According to a press release from the Colorado Snowsports Museum, this particular class was integral in shaping the state’s snow sports culture through sustained contributions.

“Snowsports are integral to who we are as Coloradans. They’re our spirit, our state pastime, and our identity,” said United States Senator and former Governor of Colorado John Hickenlooper in the press release, “None of that endures without people who take that passion and push it to the next level. These trailblazers forged a path that will inspire Coloradans for generations to come.”

Amongst the inductees is the long-time general manager of Arapahoe Basin, Alan ‘Al’ Henceroth. Henceroth has a long history with A-Basin, working in various roles since 1988.

In his current role, Hecenroth has served as the ski area’s Chief Operations Officer since 2005. He also previously worked as A-Basin’s Director of Mountain Operations from 1998-2005 and Ski Patrol director from 1988-1998.

Over his tenure, A-Basin has seen significant growth and modernization, including the expansion of Montezuma Bowl by 400 acres and the construction of Black Mountain Lodge and the Black Mountain Express Chairlift. Henceroth’s daily “Al’s Blog” continues to provide valuable conditions reports throughout the season.

Alongside Henceroth, snowboard product designer and community leader Trent Bush, founders of Never Summer Snowboards, Tim and Tracey Canaday, inventor of the “Hyback” snowboard binding, Jeffrey Grell, and early snowboard pioneer, Chris Pappas, will also be inducted into the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame.
