GB Alpine World Cup Squads Named for Next Season

There are five World Cup squad skiers heading an overall 36-athlete team.

2026 Milan-Cortina Olympians Billy Major and Laurie Taylor are joined in the Alpine World Cup squad by Reece Bell, Victoria Palla, and first-time World Cup squad member Freddy Carrick-Smith.

Freddy Carrick-Smith broke through on the World Cup circuit last year.

The team boasts a combination of experience on the World Cup stage and rich potential in a new era for British Alpine skiing with the departure of Dave Ryding, GB’s greatest ever alpine ski racer.

Eleven male and three female skiers have been named in a deep Europa Cup squad featuring significant World Cup and World Championships experience from the likes of Luca Carrick-Smith, Zak Carrick-Smith, Giselle Gorringe, Calum Langmuir, Dominic Shackleton, Owen Vinter, Molly Butler, Jack Irving and Nicole Wordley.

Seventeen of the most promising athletes on the British Alpine scene are named in the FIS Development squad, including a number of athletes selected to the GB Snowsport senior ranks for the first time.

Confirmation of selections comes as the focus is already beginning to turn towards the 2027 Alpine World Championships, scheduled for 1-14 February in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana.

“Firstly, a huge congratulations to every single member of the World Cup, Europa Cup, and FIS Development squads that have been announced today,” said the GB Snowsport Alpine Director, Mark Tilston.

Tilston has just been appointed to the new role as we reported earlier this week:

“Meeting the standard to achieve selection to the team requires a huge commitment to the sport, and every member of these squads has shown real dedication, grit, and determination to make it to the where they are today.

“This has the potential to be an incredibly exciting season for British Alpine skiing, and I’m confident that the whole team and all the coaches and support personnel that work alongside them will make the country proud in the coming months.”

“This is a really exciting team and shows once again that Britain is ready to compete at the highest levels of Alpine skiing this year,” said the GB Snowsport Alpine Discipline Committee Chair, Juliet Foster.

“We are fortunate to have such a talented and committed team of Alpine athletes ready to represent the nation, and I have no doubt they will go on to achieve extraordinary feats this year.

“We are all aware of how much hard work goes on behind the scenes to prepare athletes to compete on the world stage, and I would like to thank and congratulate everyone who has been involved in the journey our athletes have been on.

“I would also like to particularly acknowledge the support of Tenzing and of the GB Alpine Foundation benefactors, who between them have continue to offer invaluable support to our team and the wider British Alpine community.”
