FIS Makes Key Decisions for Future Editions of the FIS World Championships

The main news is the appointment of Bardonecchia in Italy as hosts of the FIS Para World Championships 2029.

The members of the Council unanimously approved the application submitted by the Federazione Italiana Sport Invernali Paralimpici.

There is guaranteed support from the local authorities and in coordination with FISI (the Italian National Ski Association) for Bardonecchia to host an event comprising all three Para disciplines:

  • Alpine
  • Cross-Country
  • Snowboard

“This is a glorious day for Para snow sports,” says FIS President Johan Eliasch.

“The full commitment from a host to embrace our three disciplines paves the way for years of further growth and development for Para athletes.”

Dates confirmed for 2029

The Council also approved the proposed dates for the other three editions of the FIS World Championships scheduled for 2029:

  • FIS Snowboard, Freestyle & Freeski World Championships Zhangjiakou 2029: 21 January – 4 February 2029
  • FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Narvik 2029: 13-25 February 2029
