Major Canadian Ski Resort Announces Summer Opening Thanks To Record Snowfall

Thanks to an exceedingly snowy winter, Banff Sunshine Village has announced an ambitious plan for summer ski operations that will delight all you Canada Day revelers.
The regular season up at Sunshine will conclude on May 18th but they are reopening for a 16-day encore staring on June 20th. The summer ski season will run through July 5th and they plan on spinning Strawberry Express Chairlift and have several trails open.
“Thanks to nearly 1000 cm of Canada’s Best Snow landing on our Rocky Mountains slopes this ski season, we will open on June 20th for 16 days of summer skiing and riding. Our plan is to open Strawberry Express and maybe another lift starting June 20th, and offer summer skiing until July 5th. Our decision to host summer skiing is thanks to record snowfall. For anyone planning to join us for some summer turns our hotel Sunshine Mountain Lodge will be open for guests.” -Banff Sunshine Village
Record-breaking snowfall over the winter and Sunshine’s high elevation have proved to be a potent combo, one which will allow the resort to be open over Canada Day weekend. Back in 2022, Sunshine also opened for Canada Day (the first time since the 1990s) and thousands of skiers and snowboarders showed up to celebrate.

Really appreciate Sunshine taking advantage of their phenomenal snowpack and providing the folks up in Alberta place to ski well into the summer months. Happy advanced Canada Day, it’s going to be a hoot up at Sunshine!
