Eastern Canada Ski Resort Acquires 110 Acres Of Land For Expansion

New Brunswick — You may not have heard of it, which I’m definitely not guilty of, but Poley Mountain has grown a strong fanbase in Eastern Canada. The New Brunswick ski resort has varied terrain for skiing, and its new-ish mountain bike trails have led to many visitors in the offseason. Their next goal is to become a true four-season destination.

Yesterday, Poley Mountain announced that it has acquired 110 acres of land that is located adjacent to the existing ski resort. This new land will allow them to grow, with an emphasis on overnight accommodations.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Poley,” said Jamie Hare, General Manager of the New Brunswick ski resort. “The addition of this land opens the door to exciting possibilities from expanded recreational experiences to a diverse range of accommodation offerings that will elevate the guest experience.”
Poley Mountain has hired Ecosign to develop a master plan for the new development. Based in Whistler, Ecosign has helped various ski resorts worldwide detail their future ambitions. Plans are preliminary, but the focus appears to be on condos, a spa, and overnight lodging. A terrain expansion also seems possible, likely connecting the new development to the current slopes and lifts.
“We’re incredibly excited about what’s next,” said Michael MacNeil, Poley’s volunteer President. “This planning process will help us unlock the full potential of our expanded footprint—from expanded skiing and recreation to thoughtfully designed on-hill accommodations.”
About Poley Mountain
Situated in the province of New Brunswick, Poley Mountain features 32 trails, 4 lifts, and a vertical drop of 660 feet. Since acquiring the ski resort in 1999, the current ownership group has spent around $15 million CAD on the property. Perhaps the most noteworthy development was a new base lodge, which had to be rebuilt after a 2014 fire. During the summer, Poley Mountain is home to a lift-served mountain biking park with more than 16 km of trails. With the development, Poley can diversify its guest base and attract more visitors to the area.
“This acquisition is more than just land—it’s a major step toward realizing our vision of becoming a true four-season destination,” said Hare. “We’re building something special for our community, our visitors, and future generations.”
