June and July Skiing Planned at Canada's Banff Sunshine Village
While ski areas in the US are closing up for the season, a summer of skiing is just getting started in the Canadian Rockies.
On Monday, May 4, Banff Sunshine Village announced that it’s extending its season and re-opening for an additional two weeks of skiing in June and July over Canada Day.
Thanks to record snowfall and the snowiest season in over a decade, Sunshine Village is planning to open on June 20 for 16 more days of summer skiing, through July 5, 2026.
Sunshine Village had a particularly fruitful season, with nearly 1,000 cm (393 inches) of snowfall, surpassing its annual average of 239 inches, or roughly 600 cm.
Currently, Sunshine Village’s base is sitting on 242cm of snow, or 7’11” at the upper mountain and about 186cm or 6ft at its mid-mountain base.
The mountain plans to open Strawberry Express and potentially one more lift, conditions dependent. The Sunshine Mountain Lodge will also be open for anyone hoping to stay at Sunshine Village’s Mountain base during their summer season. More information on Sunshine Village’s summer skiing will become available closer to the re-opening.

Prior to June 20th, Sunshine Village will be open daily until May 18th. The Slush Cup event will close out Sunshine Village’s daily operations and spring season before the mountain resets to open for the summer.
Skiers can also look forward to Cinco de Mayo celebrations, the Leg Burner Banked Slalom, Newschoolers King & Queen of the Park, and more before Sunshine’s spring closing weekend.
