Arapahoe Basin Extends Season With 15" of Snow In the Forecast

Colorado‘s Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin), following a drier-than-average winter, had a planned closing date of Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Ahead of closing weekend, however, a late-season storm dropped 14″ of snow on Summit County, prompting A-Basin to extend its season.

On Saturday, the ski area announced it would open for an additional weekend of skiing, from Friday, May 8, through Sunday, May 10. The ski area will still close as planned from May 4-7 before their new final weekend dates.

For the bonus weekend, A-Basin will open Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Express for regular hours: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Lift tickets will still be just $39 for the final weekend, and 2026/27 IKON and A-Basin Season Passes will also zbe valid.

To celebrate the additional weekend, A-Basin will have live music at the Base Area on Saturday and Sunday, as well as sales at Arapahoe Sports, with select items discounted up to 40% off. Guests are encouraged to break out the costume box for the final weekend, although costumes are not *mandatory.*

Skiers are also advised to check the resort’s website for Lift & Terrain status and to remember that there will be no access to any beginner terrain. Patrol will provide daily updates to the conditions report, as spring can bring rapid changes in weather and snow conditions.

Currently, the forecast is calling for A-Basin to get another 15″ of snow before Friday, May 8, which could make for even better closing weekend conditions.

Arapahoe Basin still plans to open for its summer season on July 2, with activities such as the Via Ferrata, Aerial Adventure Park, scenic lift rides, mountain-top yoga classes, and mountain biking. Summer pass prices start at $209, but increase on July 3.
