Maine Ski Area Has A New Owner

Hermon, Maine — The future of New Hermon Mountain has officially been secured.
WABI reports that the deal to purchase New Hermon Mountain has been finalized. The new owners are Dave Hart, Hayden Jenkins, Heidi Guerrette, and Tim McClary. These are locals who are longtime skiers of the mountain.
In 2022, the ski area was listed for sale. The price point was eventually reduced to $2.1 million to attract more interest. The Whitcomb family, who owned it for decades, announced their retirement last fall. Due to minimal demand prior to late 2025, the family stated that if they couldn’t find a new owner, they would close the mountain. Eventually, these new owners got in touch with the Whitcombs to purchase the property.
Reportedly, the first activities they’re looking to add for this summer include disc golf and hosting some comedy shows. Other things mentioned by the team include offseason activities like mountain biking and adding more food options. Hopefully, they can determine whether it should be called Hermon Mountain or New Hermon Mountain, as it’s not clear which is the official name. With its proximity to Bangor and Acadia National Park, there is potential to make this a great four-season destination.
About New Hermon Mountain
Situated 10 minutes from Bangor (Maine’s second largest city), New Hermon Mountain (also known as Hermon Mountain for some reason) serves as a feeder hill to the bigger options in Maine. The ski area features 20 trails, 3 lifts, a vertical drop of 350 feet, and night skiing. Outside of skiing and riding, there’s also a tubing park. In the summertime, there hasn’t been much going on, but that’s where a renewed focus will be from these new operators.
