One of our regular readers, David Morgan, updated us from Tignes earlier this week.
“There’s still a lot snow to ski in Tignes and Val d’Isere during the last week of the 25/26 season,” said David.
“Beautiful spring weather continues with freeze/thaw conditions.”

“Pistes are hard first thing but are quickly softening up particularly on south facing slopes,” he said.
“Despite the warm temperatures, some good spring snow pitches can be found off piste if you are in the right place at the right time.
“Tignes is now very quiet with just 34.5% occupancy and Val d’Isere has 29%.
“In Tignes the Les Brévières sector and many bars are closed.”
Another reader, Helen Gillespie, has sent in some images.

Les2Alpes also ends its winter season on Sunday, but then promptly re-opens the next day on Monday May 4th for its spring/summer season on the glacier.
It goes through to July 5th.

After this weekend some Austrian glacier resorts remain open:
- Stubai (May 17th),
- Kaunertal (May 25th),
- Kitzsteinhorn (May 25th)
- Moltal (tbc)
We have skied in Stubai near Innsbruck in the second half of May with fresh powder snow falling.

Hintertux in Austria and Zermatt in Switzerland continue to be open across the summer if the weather conditions allow.

It seems like the marmots will be having the slopes to themselves very shortly…

Advice: Resort openings at this time of year are highly dependent on the snow conditions so do check with the resorts for their latest information about openings and closings.
We have done our very best to ensure that all dates are accurate, but changes are made.
