Oblivious Boater Violently Slammed By Wave Into Popular California Beach
Newport Beach, California — Wild video shared by the Newport Beach Ocean Lifeguard Association NBOLA of a boater who was way too comfortable bobbing in the water close to shore and was caught off guard by a swell.
Newport Beach home to one of the largest recreational harbors in the U.S. and unfortunately bad helmsmanship is not uncommon with the sheer amount of marine traffic. This boater underestimated the power of the waves near Balboa Pier and ended up in a powerful beaching incident:
Thankfully those aboard looked to be in alright shape considering the brunt and brutal impact of hitting the beach and vessel didn’t break apart which could have been nasty environmentally speaking. While one would hope that a boat getting beached in Newport would be a somewhat isolated incident, as mentioned above it is all too common. Here’s another wreck from the same the week.
