The Last 3 Ski Resorts Open To Ski In California

Conditions at Mammoth Mountain this morning.

The ski season is coming to a rapid end in California, a state that typically sees around 24 ski areas/resorts open every winter. This past weekend saw the end of June Mountain‘s ski season, bringing the total number of open ski resorts in the state down to just three. At least one of those final three plans to stay open until late May, though, so the season isn’t over yet.

The Last 3 Open Ski Areas in California

Kirkwood Mountain Resort Closing April 19th.

Despite having a closing date set for this upcoming weekend, Kirkwood has had a pretty solid past few days. The ski resort saw 42 inches of snow through the past 7 days, 31 of which fell in the past 48 hours. As of April 13th, Kirkwood has 5 lifts spinning with 45 of 84 trails open to skiers and snowboarders.

Palisades Tahoe – Closing date TBD

With the recent snowfall that landed across California, Palisades Tahoe is feeling confident in lift operations into the second half of April. It’s not clear exactly how long they’ll stay open, but for now they have 11 lifts spinning with 42 open trails. The last 7 days brought 25 inches of new snow to the ski resort.

Mammoth Mountain – Open at least until Memorial Day

In typical fashion, Mammoth Mountain plans to stay open at least until Memorial Day with “Second Season” running strong from the Main Lodge only starting on April 20th. The ski resort saw 25 inches of snow in the last 3 days, 9 of which fell in the last 24 hours. 11 chairlifts are spinning with access to 59 of 180 trails.
