British Skier Faces Hefty Rescue Bill
It is reported that he found himself in dangerous rocky terrain in the Austrian resort and was unable to go back or continue.
He called the emergency services on his mobile phone and they needed to launch a helicopter to reach the area where he was.
A rope was lowered from the helicopter, and he was plucked to safety.
Austria’s Security Police Act gives authorities the power to bill people if they are deemed to have acted with gross negligence.
The cost is reported to be between £3,000 – £4,500.
The incident took place at the beginning of April after heavy snowfall.
