Zoe Atkin Takes GB Snowsport’s 4th Crystal Globe in 24 Hours

Zoe Atkin, whose bronze medal at the Milan-Cortina Olympics last month, securing Great Britain’s greatest ever set of Winter Games results, has become the third British skier to take the Crystal Globe for coming top in her discipline through the 25-26 World Cup tour, in the space of just 24 hours.

Zoe won the final Freeski Halfpipe World Cup event of the season at Silvaplana in Switzerland to claim her second Crystal Globe.

Lining up for her first World Cup outing since winning the country’s first ever Halfpipe medal at the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, Atkin dominated from the outset, qualifying in first position and then setting the competition winning score in her first run of Finals to ease her way onto the top of a World Cup podium for the fourth time in her career, and the first time outside of the USA.

23-year-old Atkin began her winning run with her signature left 540 high mute, then a right 720 leading tailgrab, a switch left 360 Japan, a right 540 leading tailgrab, a right alley-oop 360 Japan, to end with a switch right cork 720 safety on her final hit.

Victory, which came ahead of New Zealand’s Mischa Thomas and Aleksandra Glaskova, who was competing as an athlete of an independent nation, saw her amass a lead of 70 points over Australia’s Indra Brown in the overall standings, and confirmed Atkin’s second career Crystal Globe having also taken seasonal honours in 2025.

Zoe joins Charlotte Bankes who took the crystal globe in Snowboard Cross (SBX) in Mont Ste Anne yesterday and Kirsty Muir who took both the crystal globe in Freeski Slopestyle at Silvaplana as well as the so called ‘big globe’ for coming top overall in the three disciplines within Freeski Park & Pipe.

Those results mark the first time British athletes have ever secured four Crystal Globes in Olympic disciplines in a single season and, added to the three medals won across the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, confirm the 2025/26 season as a record-breaking endeavour for GB Snowsport athletes, featuring 50 major podiums for British skiers and snowboarders.
