Power Cut Shuts Whole Les2Alpes Lift System
The incident happened on Tuesday morning at 9.30am.
Emergency generators were started to take people already on the lifts to the top.
All were evacuated safely.
PlanetSKI reporter Mike Richards was amoung those on the lift system at the time.

It is reported that a bird hit a power line and this caused a short circuit.
This failure led to an extensive outage.
It also impacted the neibouring villages of Villard-Notre-Dame, Le Freney-d’Oisans, Villard-Reymond and part of Bourg-d’Oisans.
Power was restored gradually through the day and the situation is now back to normal.
An investigation is underway.
