David Beckham Shares Footage From His Favorite Powder Spot in Canada
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that David Beckham, the British footballer, knows his way around the pitch.
He has a fictional movie named after his moves (Bend It Like Beckham, of course), played with standout teams like Manchester United, and is considered one of the greatest players of his generation.
What about skiing, though? Or, in Beckham’s case, snowboarding? It’s always fun to see how athletes and celebrities hold up when they’re out of their element. Well, Beckham’s snowsports skills pass the sniff test.
In a recent social media video, he shared footage from a trip to Island Lake, a luxury backcountry lodge. “Every year I try to take 4 days in the mountains in Fernie, British Columbia … one of my favorite places to be,” he wrote, thanking the staff at Island Lake Lodge.
“I promise I’m not going as slow as my video looks,” Beckham added, capping the message off with a crying face emoji. See below.

It’s not the first time Beckham’s been spotted in British Columbia’s mountains.
In 2024, he shared footage of himself arcing smooth turns at Island Lake. Although that time, the run ended with what Beckham called “the perfect triple somersault face plant.”
The lodge that keeps drawing him back, Island Lake, is just outside Fernie. Catskiing is the big draw there, with over 7,000 acres of terrain that includes bowls, valleys, and gladed forests, according to the outfit’s website.
Shacking up and skiing there, unsurprisingly, isn’t cheap. A trip listed on the Island Lake website costs between $3,270 and $4,166 Canadian.
But if you’re envious of the powder Beckham found and hoping to make a cheaper trip, there’s always Fernie Alpine Resort, a British Columbia favorite.
With his snowboarding talent, Beckham joins the likes of Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, who, last winter, took a break from the asphalt to spend a day shredding with Shaun White. Hamilton pushed it even further, though, jumping off cliffs and throwing a flip.
