Colorado State Patrol Makes It Clear To Drivers: Keep Right, Pass Left

Left lane violations in Colorado.

If you’ve ever driven into the mountains of Colorado along Interstate 70, you’ve probably experienced a left lane camper. And if you’ve never experienced a passing lane camper while driving into the mountains along Interstate 70, there’s a good chance you are the left lane camper.

The Colorado State Patrol is making it clear that they intend to enforce passing lane violations. Last year, 2,540 drivers were pulled over for traveling slower than the flow of traffic in the left lane. On roadways with a speed limit of 65mph or greater, the left lane is for passing only, and failing to follow those rules can lead to a traffic stop and potential punishments.

There are plenty of other traffic violations going on along the highways of Colorado, some of which might seem more important than people camping in the passing lane, but left lane violations can be dangerous, cause traffic, and lead to an increase in road rage. Move over if you’re not passing.
