International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association Highlights Standout Female Athletes
The International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association Instagram page has been posting edits and clips of female athletes that deserve the spotlight for their riding abilities. The act of pushing some attention towards female athletes is one move in the right direction to cement female athletes as a permanent part of the extreme sports community.Â
This may seem like a small action, but in the grand scheme of things, giving these women (especially young girls) a platform is hugely important to normalize women in extreme sports. Beyond that, for girls looking to get into competitive skiing and push themselves, having a platform to see other girls doing the same thing is super important.
Hyping girls up and giving them a space to find role models is hugely important to develop a culture of women in sports. This makes women and girls feel more accepted in the community while also creating a culture of acceptance.
IFSA doesn’t just post these videos because they feature women but also because they are genuinely phenomenal skiers and throwing down just as hard as all the featured men. Check out the IFSA instagram page to see some of the girls that have been shredding recently.
