Meet the Maine Family That’s Been Skiing and Patrolling The Same Mountain For Four Generations

Some ski families stick to the same ski area for a couple of years, some for a decade or two, but the the Emersons of Rangeley, Maine, have created a legacy on the slopes of Saddleback Mountain. In 1967, Navy veteran Paul Emerson first skied on the Maine slopes, quickly falling in love and joining the ski patrol where he would remain for 35 years. Don, Paul’s son, hit the slopes that same year, when he was just 12.
In 1973, Don joined the ski patrol, and his son Jared started skiing on the slopes of Saddleback when he was 2. Eventually, like his father and grandson, Jared began working at Saddleback, and great-grandson Wesley is now one year into his own career with the ski patrol, creating a true four-generation ski patrol dynasty.
