The Next Generation Of Skiers Are Completely Changing The Game

Young athletes have always shown potential, they often feel less afraid and they tend to handle bigger crashes smoother. But recently this generation of skiers has begun to throw down like no other, and they just keep getting younger.
It’s not irregular to see twenty-somethings as the rising stars of any athletic field, but in skiing (freeride specifically), young teenagers have started to steal the show. Athletes like 14 year-old Rylee Watson and 14 year-old Duke Woodman have been tearing up the junior circuit for the last couple of years.
Both of these athletes ski for Atomic and it’s no question why they can both boast multiple sponsorships at such a young age. Their confidence to throw genuinely massive tricks is through the roof.
These two aren’t the only ones either, every athlete on the junior IFSA circuit has been putting down jaw-dropping runs for their ages too. And those that don’t compete can still be seen going huge at their local resorts.
15 year-old Abby Winterberger competed in this year’s Olympic women’s half-pipe competition, which is an incredible feat at any age. She is yet another example of the incredible talent this next generation has to offer.
It seems at every resort there is a whole slew of young kids that keep getting better and better. There’s so much excitement now to see where these kids can take the sport of skiing. The boundaries of skiing have already been pushed so much, who knows how far these athletes can go.
