Spring is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like us here at POWDER, your ski gear has probably taken a beating this season.

Whether it’s finally time to replace those all-mountain skis you’ve had for years, your fancy Gore-Tex pants are now more duct tape than anything else, or you just want to finally splurge on a new backcountry touring setup, late season is a great time to buy new gear as many retailers are steeply discounting their remaining inventory on skis, boots, apparel, and accessories.

Of course, a great place to start is your local ski shop. Whether you’re after an end-of-season sale or a pair of rental skis being sold off at the end of the season, it’s a great way to shop local and get a deal. You might even score some benefits like a free mount on new skis or free wax of your existing setup. Give the hardworking ski shop employees some love and see what they have in store for you!

Alternatively, if you don’t live near a ski shop, are looking for something super specific, or want to try the old online garage sale (Facebook), there are plenty of killer deals online right now. We looked at a few of the most reliable online retailers and brands we heard were having sales, and here’s what we found.

Online Retailer Sales

Backcountry.com

Utah-based backcountry.com is currently running up to 40 percent off most things in their ski and snowboard gear section. They have skis like the Atomic Bent and Maverick and the Rossignol Rallybird Soul for 20% off. There are also tons of outerwear, mid layers, and base layers on sale for 40% off in brands like Helly Hansen and Mountain Hardware, and discounts up to 70% for Backcountry’s own gear.

Need new ski accessories? Brands like Smith, Ortovox, and Dakine are offering up to 60% off things like helmets, goggles, backpacks, avy gear, and more. Whatever you’re looking for, Backcountry probably has a deal on it.

REI.com

REI just sent our their yearly dividends to members, meaning for eligible purchases, you can get 10% cash back and even more if you have the REI credit card. What better way to celebrate than spending more money at REI? While REI isn’t offering any steep discounts on hard goods, they are cleaning out this past season’s soft goods for pretty excellent prices. Items like the Arc’teryx Sentinel or Alpha SV, which normally retail for $750 and $900, respectively, but are on sale for just $374.83 and $599.83. Don’t mind if we do…

Evo.com

Evo’s Last Chair Sale is currently going on and offering up to 60% off past and current season goods. Evo is a great spot for bundle packages in particular and they tend to have a pretty good hard goods selection. Snag a pair of 2026 Black Crows Atris Birdie skis for just $629.30, a pair of 2025 K2 Dispatch LT W Touring boots for $169.99, or a Mammut Free 28 Airbag 3.0 pack for $459.99.

Brand Sales

Outdoor Research

Outdoor Research is having its bi-annual Summit Sale, which offers 30% off outerwear, mid-layers, fleece, and more from the past season. Some of the brand’s most-loved ski outerwear pieces, like the Cloudchaser 3L jacket and bibs, are included in the sale.

Past season’s MTB products are also part of the Summit Sale, which means you could snag that piece of ski gear you’ve been eyeing or refresh your bike wardrobe ahead of spring riding with OR’s 2025 Freewheel line.

Patagonia

Patagonia is having a massive 50% off sale of all their current season snow gear. A brand known for being a bit pricey, but with quality that’s worthy of the spend, discounts this steep on Patagonia are not to be missed.

Outerwear pieces like their Untracked Bibs are under $500 right now, and both the men’s and women’s Stormshift jackets are just $348.99. Mid-layers like their new Nano-Air Ultralight Freeride jacket (men’s & women’s) are also on sale for just $299.99. If you’ve been eyeing any Patagonia pieces this season to add to your ski kit, now’s the time to swoop them up.

Your Local Used Gear Shop

Skimo Co

If you’re looking for ski touring gear, Salt Lake City specialty shop SkimoCo is probably already on your radar, but did you know they have a rotating cast of items on their discount page? This is an awesome place to find great deals on apparel and specific things like backcountry skiing bindings, boots, skis or skins. Check it out here.

GearFix

Bend, Oregon‘s GearFix is an awesome place to find tons of used ski gear (and general outdoor gear!) for great prices all the way through the end of the season. They have skis, boots, bindings, outerwear, and more and it can be a great place to score a full set up. GearFix also offers ski tuning and mounting services so if you find a pair in need of a remount, some new skin glue, or a little base love, it’s a great one-stop-shop for Central Oregon skiers.

Ski Shop Demo/Rental Sales

Lots of ski shops will have huge sales at the end of the season to sell this year’s product inventory, but more importantly, to get rid of their demo fleet. If you’re not after a brand-new set of skis, these demo sales can be amazing. Keep an eye on your local shops’ social media or email list, or ask around next time you stop in for a tune to see when they’re selling off their demo fleet. Even if the skis come used, you know they’ve been cared for by a shop their whole lives, not some skid in a garage with a clothes iron and a block of wax.

Facebook Marketplace

Of course, we can’t discount the holy grail of internet garage sales: Facebook Marketplace. If you live somewhere even remotely outdoorsy, odds are you’ll find people selling their old skis, boots, and more on Facebook.

It can be a little hit-or-miss, and the pickings can be slim and overpriced. If there’s something super specific you’re after, you might be better off getting it on sale from a retailer. However, if you’re one of those people who always has Marketplace open in a browser tab just in case, you can snag gems from time to time.

A friend of mine recently got Hyperlite Mountain Gear’s Headwall 55 pack, which retails for $475, for less than $200 on Facebook Marketplace in great condition.
