The lifts and operations at Aspen Mountain, one of four Aspen Snowmass ski areas, were temporarily put on hold Thursday morning after a small fire at the Sundeck Restaurant. According to posts on the Aspen Snowmass Instagram story, the small fire was quickly contained and there were no injuries to employees, guests, or first responders.

Out of an abundance of caution, the area was temporarily evacuated and the Sundeck and Aspen Mountain Club were closed until further notice. Lifts and operations were suspended until safety sweeps had been completed, with plans to reopen lifts as possible.

Bonnie’s Restaurant remained open for food service and the Gondola Plaza Base Area for facilities while the Sundeck was closed. Ajax Tavern was also open on Thursday at the base of Aspen Mountain. Operations at Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk were unaffected by the fire.
