Teenage Skier Dies In Horrific Chairlift Accident at Canadian Resort
Centre Vorlage, a small ski area near Ottawa, Canada, was closed for multiple days this past week after a horrific accident unfolded on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
According to CBC, the 13-year-old girl was on a class trip to the ski area. She was reportedly getting ready to unload the chairlift at the top of the hill when “her clothes became tangled in the machinery.”
The ski area decided the best way to free her from the chair was to bring it back to the bottom of the small hill. The skier was not breathing when she reached the bottom.
First responders performed CPR, and the girl was rushed to a local hospital. She died from her injuries days later.
Details are scarce at this time, and police are actively investigating the incident. The Ontario Office of the Chief Coroner is also looking into the matter.
The Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ), which inspects ski lifts in the region, is looking into whether a mechanical malfunction was a factor in the accident.
