Skier Death Confirmed at Northstar, California

The Placer Country Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a 26-year-old skier died at Northstar Resort, a popular Lake Tahoe ski resort, on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Nicholas Kenworthy of Los Angeles was found unresponsive on the Martis Trail. Life-saving attempts were made, but Kenworthy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martis Trail is a Black-Diamond rated slope accessible by Northstar’s Martis Camp Express. The Martis Camp Lodge is a members-only lodge at the base of the lift.
