Cairngorm is the pick of the bunch just now with some exceptional snow cover that has built up during the January storms,” said PlanetSKI’s Scotland reporting team of Rod and Dianne Frazer.

“The hill feels like a blast from the past, driving past huge drifts up to the car park.

“It’s great to be able to let loose on huge wide snowfields both on and off piste.

“Glenshee in the East also enjoys some great cover just now, and no doubt will have a great holiday period due to it’s proximity to Edinburgh and Dundee.

“Further up the ‘Snow Road’ the Lecht has a pretty good base too.

“Over in the west Glencoe is offering great skiing on the mid and upper mountain, and with luck the snow in the upcoming forecast will freshen up the lower runs soon.

“Likwise, Nevis Range has superb cover higher up, but still remains closed Monday to Wednesday – however, it should be worth a visit for upcoming weekends.

“Hopefully the weather gods are helpful and the Highland ski areas can maximise this busy period.

“Fingers crossed that this turns into an epic season, as the more settled spring weather normally provides the best chance to enjoy Scottish skiing.”
