Helly Hansen marks fifth International Ski Patrol Day on 10 February

Helly Hansen will mark the fifth annual International Ski Patrol Day (ISPD) on 10 February 2026, encouraging skiers and snowboarders to recognise the work of patrollers who help keep resorts open, safe and enjoyable.

The initiative, launched in 2022, is designed to shine a light on the often unseen work carried out from early morning to last lift, including route and hazard management, on-slope response, avalanche mitigation where relevant, and first aid.

Verbier ski patroller Théo Besse said:

“Being a ski patroller allows me to enjoy the mountains every day throughout the winter whilst contributing to the safety of others. It combines my passions for the sport, for keeping the mountains safe and working together as a team. We go to work every day, no matter the conditions, and though our job is very demanding, it’s also incredibly rewarding.”

Helly Hansen ambassador Marcus Caston added: “It’s nice to know ski patrollers are always there and have our back, whether it’s getting the mountain open, making sure it’s safe for us to go skiing, or when there’s a problem, pulling us out and getting us home safe.”

The brand says it has partnered with nearly 50 ski resorts across Europe and North America to mark ISPD since its launch, with support directed towards patrol and snow safety organisations. Helly Hansen adds that funding has helped cover workshops, peer-to-peer support and educational resources, including avalanche safety, mental health, and injury management and response.

For the 2026 anniversary, Helly Hansen says it will donate 5% of e-commerce sales and selected retail store sales from 10 February to organisations supporting ski patrol internationally, including Fédération Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski (FIPS) and the Canadian Ski Patrol.

“At Helly Hansen, we’re proud to work with more than 55,000 professionals worldwide, who trust our gear to help them stay and feel alive in the outdoors every day,” said Joumana Løvstad, Chief Marketing Officer at Helly Hansen. “We’re excited to mark the fifth anniversary of International Ski Patrol Day, honoring the passion, dedication and expertise of patrollers around the world.”

Warren Smith, professional freeride skier and Helly Hansen ambassador, added: “Thank you for making all of the magic on the mountains possible. We’re not just grateful, we’re in awe of what ski patrollers do to allow us to do what we love.”

Helly Hansen is encouraging people to post messages of thanks using #skipatrolday and tagging @hellyhansen. Details on how to take part are at hellyhansen.com/ski-patrol.
