American Ski Racer Breezy Johnson Wins Her First Ever Olympic Gold Medal

Italy — It was a bittersweet day for the U.S. Ski Team. While Vonn crashed and had to be airlifted out of the hospital, there were also excellent results for the team.

During the 2022 Olympics, Breezy Johnson couldn’t compete because of an injury she sustained at Cortina. This time around, she crushed her downhill run. The signs were there beforehand: she secured third place in her most recent FIS World Cup event and posted the top training time yesterday. But this is the run that will be remembered for a lifetime. The result came precisely one year after she got gold at the World Championships. You can watch her full run here.

Also worth noting was Jackie Wiles, who is competing in her third Olympic Games. She secured fourth place, her personal best at the Olympics.

Congrats to Breezy and Jackie on your great results!
