Team USA Women’s Alpine Ski Preview
There are few bigger stories going into the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games than Team USA’s women’s alpine ski team.
For one, the winningest ski racer of all time, none other than Mikaela Shiffrin, heads up Team USA’s Alpine ski team. Shiffrin already has three Olympic medals under her belt, a gold in Giant Slalom and a silver medal in Super Combined from PyeongChang 2018, and a gold in Slalom from Sochi 2014.
Shiffrin is currently the reigning World Champion and will compete in Giant Slalom, Slalom, and the new Team Combined event alongside speed skiing star Breezy Johnson.

Of course, we couldn’t talk about Team USA’s alpine ski team without talking about Lindsey Vonn.
The 41-year-old skier has had the comeback of a lifetime this season, with podium after podium in downhill on her partially replaced knee. Vonn was looking like a favorite for the Downhill race on Sunday, February 8th, until she crashed in Crans-Montana last week and tore her ACL.
Despite the injury, Vonn still plans to compete.
Jackie Wiles, who has found success in Cortina before, podiuming at World Cup events in 2018 and 2024, will be another skier to keep an eye on for Team USA. Wiles also works as a pilot on Cessna airplanes in her free time.
Paula Molztan has also been skiing notably well in slalom and has been a star on Team USA.

Team USA Men’s Alpine Ski Preview
Team USA’s Men’s Alpine Ski field is home to quite a few talented skiers, and it’s a good thing. The men’s alpine ski events will take place on the Stelvio track during the Winter Games, a course known for its lack of light and ultra-high-speed, long races.
Legacy Olympian Ryan Cochran-Siegle is headed into the Games with a silver medal of his own from Beijing 2022 (and the only one in alpine skiing from Team USA that year), to add to his mother’s slalom gold medal from Sapporo 1972.
Cochrane-Siegle also works for his family’s maple syrup company, Cochran’s Slope-Side Syrup, in his home state of Vermont.
Sam Morse will also represent Team USA in his Olympic debut. Morse grew up training at Carrabassett Valley Academy, the same school that trained Olympic champion skier Bode Miller. When he’s not racing, Morse is also an avid whitewater kayaker, mountain biker, and climber, all of which set him up well to tackle a high-speed, adrenaline-filled course.
River Radamus (yes, that’s his real name) comes from a long line of die-hard ski racers. His father, Aldo Radamus, has worked for the US Ski Team and was inducted into the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame. His mother, Sara, coached programs in Vail and Steamboat Springs, and the Puerto Rican Ski Team at PyeongChang 2018.
River won three consecutive gold medals at the Youth Olympic Games Lillehammer in 2016 and joined the US Ski Team shortly after. River is known in part for showing up to the 2022 Winter Games with zebra-striped hair, where he came in 4th in GS.
