"Parks and Rec" Star Spotted Skiing the Slopes in Utah—and He Rips

On the list of celebrities who can actually, you know, ski, Rob Lowe is top-ranked.

The Parks and Recreation star has a penchant for stopping by Utah’s Alta Ski Area, to sample the goods. Most recently, he shared a photo of himself in the sun at the mountain, soaking up some Little Cottonwood Canyon goodness.

“Celebrating the Sundance premiere of “The Musical” with some quality time at Alta,” he wrote in the caption of his Instagram post, referencing the ongoing Utah film festival and his latest movie, a dark comedy.

This time, there didn’t seem bottomless flakes—a result of the ongoing snow drought in Utah and other mountain states—which might be why Lowe didn’t share a video.

The less-than-snowy state of affairs even prompted an apology from Alta.

“Welcome back!” the ski area wrote below his post. “We apologize for not ordering up chest-deep powder turns for your visit this time.”

To his credit, though, Lowe has found some of those turns at Alta in the past—a previous video of his ticks all the boxes, from glimmering sun to light, fluffy snow.

Plus, Lowe, clearly a handy skier, looked like he was in his element, ripping some confident turns. The big mountain skiing legend Reine Barkered took notice and dropped a few fire emojis beneath Lowe’s video, the ultimate head nod.

You’ll probably recognize the names of other celebrities known for skiing skills.

Media titan Kim Kardashian has, of course, been spotted on the slopes of Aspen, Colorado (and collaborated with The North Face). Gordon Ramsay, the foul-mouthed celebrity chef, can also hang. Meanwhile, the recently passed actor Robert Redford will go down in ski history for founding Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah.

But skiing’s favorite modern celebrity may be the comedian Chelsea Handler, who’s drawn attention for her ongoing—and increasingly elaborate—birthday tradition that involves snow, swimsuits, and skis. Handler, above all, knows how to party, something many skiers can appreciate.
