Lost Hiker & Dog Rescued In Snowy Conditions On New York Mountain
A lost hiker was rescued alongside their dog as snow squalls shrouded the trail on Giant Mountain in New York.
According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, Ray Brook Dispatch received a call from the lost hiker at around 5:10pm on January 22nd. Snow squalls that created deep drifts caused the hiker to lost the Ridge Trail.
Forest Ranger Rooney was able to locate the 47-year-old and their dog at around 6:45pm, providing dry clothing and a headlamp before walking the subject back to the trailhead. All resources were clear of the scene by 8:20pm.
