Aspen Snowmass Employee Dies After On-Mountain Incident

Snowmass Village.

An employee with Aspen Skiing Company died after an on-mountain incident at Snowmass on Thursday, January 22nd, Aspen Public Radio reports.

Rohan Verplank, a local ski instructor and coach, was skiing on the intermediate Lower Creekside run in the Two Creeks area when the incident occurred. Snowmass Ski Patrol and the Snowmass Village Police Department responded to the incident with the Aspen Skiing Company and Aspen Valley Health Emergency Room staff also providing assistance.

Verplank was 48-years-old. The cause and manner of death are currently under investigation by the coroner’s office. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the friends and family of the deceased at this time.
